PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

These charming needle-felted creations make delightful decorations, festive Christmas ornaments, or a toy for children. Each piece is handcrafted from 100% wool using a technique called dry needle felting—a process that transforms unspun wool into sculpted animals.

The craft relies on a specialized felting needle with tiny barbs along its shaft. As the needle is repeatedly inserted into the wool, these barbs catch and entangle the fibers, gradually binding them together to form a solid shape.

Each finished Felti includes a small cotton string, making it easy to hang and display wherever you choose.

WHO MADE THIS NATURAL WOOL FELTED PRODUCT?

These beautiful felted ornaments were handcrafted by Indigenous women participating in the Spectacled Bear Conservation Society’s (SBC) alternative livelihood program in northwestern Peru. This initiative supports sustainable economic opportunities for women living in critical spectacled bear habitat.

International development research shows that when women receive their own income, the health and well-being of their children improves significantly. However, in many rural areas, limited education and a lack of local job opportunities leave women dependent on their husbands for financial support.
